For most of my life, I thought I was searching for success. Looking back, I was searching for something else entirely.
I was born in Madrid into two very different worlds.
A systems thinker and tinkerer, convinced there was always a way. He taught me how to find leverage.
Spanish to her core. She sings, paints and taught flamenco for years. She taught me how to dance before I found it.
For the first ten years of my life, those worlds lived together inside me. I carried a deep feeling that everything was going to be okay. I didn't need to become someone. I simply was.
Around my eleventh birthday, my family moved from Madrid to a small farming town outside Seattle. Three weeks into the school year, I broke my femur playing football on the playground, and complications kept me in the hospital for a month. My body healed. Something else didn't. The true injury was a loss of trust.
Instead of expressing myself, I learned to protect myself. Instead of feeling, I learned to think.
The world rewarded it
I spent more than 25 years in technology, from program manager at Microsoft in the early days of the internet to leading global partnerships with Microsoft, AWS and Google Cloud. I learned how organizations worked, how power moved and how to see the hidden rules inside complex systems. Success came relatively easily.
But I had achieved mastery without joy. I wasn't pursuing what I loved. I was pursuing what I could master. And beneath every promotion sat a quiet question: is this really it?
Golf became the mirror
Golf was the thing my father and I shared most deeply, and it showed me what I couldn't see anywhere else. A golfer operating from trust sees feedback. A golfer operating from shame sees judgment. I'd been playing my whole life from shame.
Seven years ago, I noticed there was a voice in my head, and an awareness observing that voice, and that they were not the same thing. As I cleared the clutter, healed old patterns and reconnected with my body, I discovered something surprising.
I wasn't becoming someone new. I was reclaiming someone old.
Why Sabio exists
I started noticing the same gap everywhere: in executives who had achieved remarkable success yet felt trapped, in athletes whose talent far exceeded their performance under pressure, and in myself. What separated potential from performance was rarely capability. It was interference.
Sabio is the integration of my two teachers: my father's systems and my mother's joy. Today I help others uncover the hidden patterns creating friction in their lives, so they can experience greater clarity, confidence, freedom and flow.
